As we at
Perkins Design Associates begin our eighth
year of operation, I am struck by the many
changes that have occurred during that
time. Environmental disasters, global terrorism,
and economic uncertainties have affected
each of our lives, and have had a profound
impact upon our professional responsibilities.
Heightened concerns for security, safety,
and long-term sustainability have become
requirements to address within every community
in which we work.
We remain
fully committed to providing our clients
with outstanding service, creative solutions,
and leading edge technology. Our enthusiastic
and talented staff has a diverse range
of experience and capabilities that can
be directed towards a wide variety of projects.
We strive to create environments that respect
local community character that foster places
for human interaction, commerce and living,
and that balance economic, environmental,
and community values.
I believe
that the most important service we provide
to our clients is the ability to listen
carefully in order to synthesize information
gathered into innovative design solutions
that achieve return on investment, long-term
viability, and community benefit. I am
pleased that we are also able to offer
our clients strategic planning, public
presentation, and design review services.
Our design
philosophy continues to be driven by principles
derived from our experience and observations
of the dynamics of environmental design.
We believe places must reflect their unique
location within their natural environment,
their relationship to regional and local
communities, and their special purpose
in facilitating human interaction, comfort,
and vitality to users. We are committed
to achieving our clients’ economic
goals while preserving their flexibility
to adapt to a constantly changing market
place. We emphasize communication as a
primary tool for driving the design process.
I am personally
excited as well by our recent addition
of an office in Fresno, the heart of Central
California. It is my hope that this new
office, and others to follow, will allow
us to serve a broader group of clients,
and provide expanded opportunities for
our professional staff. As we look forward
to these new opportunities and challenges,
we remain firmly committed to maintaining
our present high standards of excellence,
innovation, and effectiveness.
